Dog show – what is it?
Your Doberman is becoming more and more beautiful, sociable, learned the right stance, learned to groom and run next to you (as the conditions for holding exhibitions require). You burn with impatience to record it at the next exhibition. He is ready for a “battle.” And you? Are you prepared as well? What else do you need to cook? Are there any additional “tricks” to make the dog even more beautiful in order to increase its chances of winning?
Dog Show … – what is it ?! Most people think that a dog show is a performance, a performance during which the owners of the best dogs are presented with colorful ribbons, badges, medals and prizes.

Moreover, the owners of the winners are extremely proud of the success of their pets. For many dog lovers, this is a competition, a sharp struggle with her emotions and emotions for the only place that is worth the struggle and the first experience.
In each of these opinions there is a rational grain, however, the true purpose of holding dog shows will become clear only with time: in addition to the pleasure of being among like-minded people (always ready to celebrate the success and merits of their pupils), an exhibition is a responsible watch competition for specialists and experienced breeders, where the best representatives of the breed are studied in detail, the best producers are identified who are able to improve the type of modern Doberman, bringing it closer to the type of “ideal” dog, described Nom in the Standard.
All of us – from the most picky breeder to the novice owner, fully confident that his best dog in the world should regularly participate in exhibitions in order to know the opinions of different experts about his dog. Admiring the world’s only best dog (naturally, his own), not knowing or forgetting about its shortcomings, we gradually begin to feel a keen desire to compare it with other dogs, to find out its true value, the degree of compliance with the requirements of the breed standard. Examination of dogs presented at the exhibition will reveal vices and deficiencies in the exterior and behavior, invisible to an inexperienced look.
But the presence of individual flaws should not detract from the merits of our pupils: there are no ideal dogs, they exist only in our imagination.
Sometimes the owners, visiting the exhibition as a spectator, come to the conclusion that their dog (staying at home) is much better than the winners noted in the ring. Quite possible! Therefore, it is unfortunate that she did not participate in the exhibition. It is possible, however, that the owner is mistaken, because only a comparative analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the dogs presented in the ring allows them to give an objective assessment and determine the Winner.

It is very useful to visit the exhibition first without a dog in order to get acquainted with the rules and the procedure for its holding. You will be easier and better prepared to participate in the exhibition if you know in advance all the requirements set by the organizers and judges.
At the exhibition, dogs, if they are not in the ring, must be in specially equipped cages with numbers in accordance with the catalog so that visitors can freely admire them. The public does not buy entrance tickets in order to examine empty cells.
In order to show a dog in the ring in front of an expert with brilliance, professionally and technically, you need to know the breed standard, skillfully and interestedly follow certain rules, have good contact with the dog, and not make blunders. The judge must examine and evaluate the dog, write a description of the exterior and behavior of the animal; and the one who shows the dog to the expert should try to present it as advantageously as possible. The ultimate goal of the examination of dogs in the ring is to select the dogs that are typical for the breed and to identify and highlight the best, “absolutely typical” among them. And most viewers, meanwhile, believe that the expert identifies and highlights the most beautiful dog without physical disabilities and declares it the winner. In order to correctly evaluate a dog, the judge is guided by the standard point by point verifies the compliance of the entire appearance of the dog and its individual articles with the requirements of the Standard. You will greatly facilitate the task for the judge if you put the dog in the correct stance.
