Doberman – a dog that conquers the hearts of fans of the breed with its beauty, intelligence and unique character. The heartbeats with admiration when you observe the movements of the Doberman. Short glossy coat shimmers in the sun. Under the thin, tight-fitting skin, strong muscles play. And how interesting and exciting Dobermany rings are when these graceful animals freeze in flying stances, disputing prizes and champion titles.
Dobermannists can talk about the beauty of their dogs for hours. But no matter how beautiful the exterior of the Doberman, it gained worldwide fame thanks to its unique character and universal working qualities.
1. Universal work dog
Indestructible energy, a desire to be useful to a person, endurance, speed and agility made the Doberman a versatile working dog.
During the years of World War II, Dobermans were highly respected military dogs of the US Marine Corps. For loyalty and courage, they were awarded the title “Semper Fidelis” – “Always Faithful.” The Marines considered the Dobermans to be indispensable in carrying out certain special tasks. They were prepared for reconnaissance, message delivery, guard service, mine detection and cave surveys.
In peacetime, Dobermans were widely used in the army and police as security guards, bodyguards, and rescuers. They are indispensable helpers at customs. A keen sense of flair allows them to find drugs, weapons and explosives even in the most inaccessible places.
2. A noble profession – rescuer
Recently, more and more attention has been paid to the training of search and rescue dogs. And who, no matter how Doberman, is most suitable for this service. Bred over 100 years ago, primarily as a defender, now it is a friend and helper of man. A well-developed flair in combination with the ability to easily and quickly overcome various obstacles makes the Doberman irreplaceable when working on the rubble after earthquakes when searching for victims.
The Sevastopol Rescue Department, which includes some Dobermans, participated in saving people after the earthquake in Armenia. Then the Doberman Yurst (owner V. Ivanov), many days after the tragedy, discovered a living person under the rubble. More recently, Dobermans rescuers rescued another person who suffered from an accident in the Crimean forest.
No doubt, the Doberman occupies a worthy place among the dogs of this noble profession. As a rule, rescue dogs are nameless heroes, but I would like to take this opportunity to name the names of these Dobermans: Yurst (owner V. Ivanov), Sherols and Ak-Yar Sherry (owner E. Ivanova), Ak-Yar Antigona and Evviva from Graziano (ow. N. Babkevin), Eugene (ow. N. Lukash), Yudol (ow. L. Tarasenko), Ak-Yar Mansur (ow. N. Antonova), Jordan-Diamond (ow. E. Ivanova )
3. Athlete dog
Doberman is a born athlete. The will to win, the desire to work in his blood.
Even before KSU entered into the contract, FCI partners Dobermans were active participants in sports at various training courses: OKD, ZKS, search service, all-around.
Always staying at their best, these dogs created in the soul of true breed lovers a desire to improve their working qualities at all costs, to seek new approaches in training, to work “tirelessly”. And all for one purpose – to obtain a Doberman not only beautiful, harmoniously built, but also with a strong balanced character and excellent working qualities. Only such a Doberman can bear this proud name.
Real breeders always want to get a dog who will be both an Exterior Champion and a Working Champion. But rarely does anyone succeed. In history, only one Doberman won the title of World Champion in Exterior and World Champion in Training. This is the Gertog Conan van Menensheide. Descendants of this unique Doberman live in Ukraine now. With the advent of a new type of training in our country – IPO and SchH, the Doberman, of course, could not stay away. An IPO is just made for the Doberman. Where, if not here, all of his best qualities can be realized: a magnificent scent, excitement, swiftness, temperament, the desire to instantly defend the owner. Increasingly, the names of Dobermans occupy the top lines of the championship tables for IPO and ShcH:
Champion of Ukraine Tsarevich iz Slavnoy Stai (ow. T. Chebotareva) – the only male to play in the working championships, Champion of Kiev in IPO-I;
Vavila Makeor Val (owner E. Khomyakova) – multiple winner of the sections “Tracking Work” and “Obedience” on IPO-III;
Chocolate Blossom from Graziano (ow. T. Pravda) – Grandchampion of Ukraine on the exterior, prize-winner in the river. “Track work” at the Championships of Ukraine and Moscow;
Evviva from Graziano (ow. N. Babkevich) – prize-winner of the river. Obedience Karl Denise 2001 IPO
